Wed night Cinco De Mayo club racing at West Coast RC -5/5/10

Reported by DJ - "AY-YA-YAY!!!!! West Coast had a Cinco De Mayo club race that featured 18 Short Course Pro4's.  Of course OFNA cars were out in full force as Yammins(Jammins) took the top 3 spots, local driver Kevin(The Gringo)Smith managed to take TQ and the win for the SCRT-10, challenging track owner Danny S. during the quals. and the main.  But during the main Danny suffured and el breako on his axle and that just put Kevin on cruise control as there was no one else to push his pace.  Other podium finishers were Tommy Long 2nd spot and James Grossaint taking 3rd.  Additionally, Kevin got the double tap by also winning in his Hyper 9e in the 1/8th class "Viva La Yammins"

Hyper 10sc Nitro is how robin Rolls - 5/4/10

Reported by Robin Nelson - This past weekend, with weather threatening, I decided to go to Easley to race Friday night.  So I took my Hyper10sc Nitro to do some Short Course racing. The weather held out and about forty drivers showed up to do battle at the Easily Short Course track.  Last time I raced here the track officials made me run in the “run what you brung class” but this weekend there were not enough cars. This weekend I got to run in the Mod 4X4 class.  In qualifying I took the TQ in the second of two rounds.  Lining up for the main, race officials made it interesting by inverting the field, which put me at the back with about nine other electric trucks in front of me.  On lap one I diced (Earnhardt’d) my way up to third and set my sights on the leaders.  About half way though the main I finally caught the leader Scottie Powell driving a Hyper 10sc, we battled for a couple of laps and I came out on top after Scottie had an altercation with a lap truck.  At the end of the race I took the win with Scottie Powell finishing in Second with the Hyper10sc Electric.  Once again showing that the Hyper10sc Nitro truck is one awesome truck!

ANOTHER GREAT JOB

JBRL series race #3 Hot Rod Hobbies 5-2-10

Reported by DJ - Well the JBRL race at hot Rod Hobbies was a really good one, there were 27 entries for the unlimited Pro4 class.  The hottest drivers from OFNA were there, like Chad Bradley and Jeremy Kortz to battle for the top points in the series driving the Hyper10sc and Jammin SCRT 10.  The battle continues to be a close one as Bradley took the TQ spot for the A-main and Kortz in the P-2 spot.  Jammins and Hypers took over the A-main and was evenly distributed throughout the main.  With 6min of full banked racing, it was sure to be a good race anywhere around the track.  Bradley got a good start with Jeremy and Jon Anderson to follow with Dj pushing to keep the 4th spot.  It was clearly heavy with some good door to door racing and side by side jumping as the track provided some width to battle, with triples, doubles, elevation changes, and a Talladega no-lift high banked sweeper gave the crowd some excitement, but in the end Kortz got the win in the Hyper 10SC with Bradley finishing 2nd and Crash from Upgrade RC 3rd, can't wait to report the next JBRL from Bakersfield.

Sat night racing at Hot Rod Hobbies - 5/1/10

As reported by DJ - I headed to Hot Rod Hobbies on Sat. to do some pre-race set-up for the JBRL race on Sun. but after some good practice and other 4wd drivers showing later to club race I decided to follow along and race also. Chad Bradley comes by also to club race to get in tune for the JBRL, of course Chad breaks out with awsome lead to TQ by a mile, I managed to hold down the 2nd spot on stock tires with Crash 3rd. The race was pretty good Chad took off and was gone so the challenge was for the 2nd spot between myself and Crash but after some time Chad has a temporary shutdown and that gave me and Crash the battle for the lead, but Chad got up and going again and made a charge for us, he gets by Crash and works on me but a back marker slide across me and put me to a stop and Chad wiggled by, by the time they cleared me I was in 3rd chasing Crash, with time running out I was pushing to find a way to get past Crash and finally did in last corner told hold onto the 2nd spot it, was a good race with Crash.

Kortz and Chad Battle it out at Tuesday Night Nationals - 4/28/10
Reported by Chad Bradley - 4/27/10 - 124 entries Tuesday Night at Hot Rod Hobbies in Santa Clarita CA.  On a brand new layout, Team OFNA took home the wins in the 1/8 Nitro Buggy class, 1/8 Electric Buggy class and the 4wd Short Course class!  Chad Bradley driving the Jammin X2 took the TQ and Win in the Expert Nitro 1/8 buggy class, Jeremy Kortz took the TQ and win in both 1/8 electric and 4wd Short Course classes driving the Hyper 9E and Hyper 10SC.  In the Expert Nitro 1/8 Buggy class Chad set the fastest times in both rounds of qualifying and lead wire to wire in the main event, Nick Tennant finished 2nd and DJ Silva 3rd.  In the 4wd Short Class, Jeremy Kortz set the fastest times in both rounds of qualifying with the Hyper 10SC.  The main event for the 4wd Short Course class started off a little sketchy for both Bradley and Kortz.  Crash driving a Jammin SCRT-10 lead off half way through the first lap and second lap of the 4wd SC main, Kortz was able to get by for the lead and then Bradley in 2nd, Chad had a couple mistakes early on and was not able to close the gap enough to make it a fight for the lead with Kortz.  OFNA once again made it a 1-2-3 finish in the 4wd Short Course Class with Jeremy Kortz taking the win, Chad Bradley in 2nd and Crash in 3rd.

Robin takes the First Hyper 10sc Nitro for the win - 4/24/10

Reported by Robin Nelson - This past Friday night I took my “New” Hyper 10 SC Nitro truck to Easley, SC to the Hobby Connection for some Friday night Short Course Racing.  The Hobby Connection is a large fully stocked hobby shop with three tracks.  They have a 400 ft Asphalt Oval, a Road Course and a track designed for Short Course Racing. About 50 racers showed up for the first Friday night race.  The classes at the race where Stock Slash, Open Slash and “Run what you Brung”.  Since my Hyper 10 SC Nitro was one of the first seen at the track I was told by race officials that I would have to run in the “Run what you Brung” class, OKJ.  In this class I was up against a couple of 1/8 nitro buggies, some 1/8 brushless buggies, a brushless Revo, a mini Revo and a quick 1/10 brushless buggy.  We ran two rounds of qualifying and a main event.  Qualifying was interesting with the track rotation being swapped between the qualifiers and then a coin flipped for the rotation for the main.  My Hyper 10 Nitro handle great and had plenty of power under the hood and qualifying went well with me taking the TQ in my class.  In the main I had to battle with the 1/10 brushless buggy for about three minutes and he finally looped it in a corner and I went on to take the win.  I would like to say we finally got some real horsepower under the hood of the Hyper 10 SC with Nitro and its Great!  Sounds right, Smells right, Looks right, It must be Right.  The Hyper 10 SC Nitro is one Awesome Truck.

The Kungs take their class - 4/24/10
Reported by Jeff Kung - 4/24/10 - 1/8 scale Indoor Championships was run at OCRC Raceway. There was a about 9 heats with over 70 "E" buggies.  It was a long day with 3 rounds of qualifying and triple A-Mains.  Brothers Jason and Randy Kung ran in the Sportsman class.  In rounds 1 and 2 of qualifying, Jason had electronic issues that allowed him to not finish the race.  On the final qualify, Jason had met up with traffic which only allowed him to qualify 4th.  As for Randy on the final qualify, he was working a TQ run, but had a traction roll coming onto the straight.  He ended up qualifying 3rd behind the TQ pace by 1.5 seconds and behind the 2nd position by 3 tenths of a second.  After the first lap in A1, Jason and Randy made it to positions 1 and 2 and from then on, they led the rest of the way and Jason received 1st while Randy received 2nd.  In A2, Jason was leading, but had a bobble at the big triple.  Randy also had the same bobble at the same triple.  Jason finished 2nd while Randy finished 4th.  In A3, Randy had a bad start and dropped to last place.  In the 7minute main, by staying consistent and up to pace, he found himself on the final podium spot.  After Jason took the lead in the 5 minute mark, he set cruise control to secure the top spot.  The final standings, Jason took first place in the OFNA Hyper 9E while Jeff Kulp earned second in the RC8B and Randy got 3rd place also piloting the OFNA Hyper 9E.

Kortz takes second leg of JBRL series - 4/17/10
Reported by Chad Bradley - 4/17/10 - JBRL Electric Series round 2 at OCRC :  Round 2 of the JBRL Electric Series was held at OCRC in Huntington Beach CA.  This was round 2 of the 8 race series that extends from all ends around Southern California.  In the Unlimited 4wd Short Course class Chad Bradley took home the win in round 1 a few weeks back with Jeremy Kortz finishing in a close 2nd position.  Jeremy Kortz was poised to not let Bradley extend his lead in the overall standings after the second round race.  Jeremy Kortz put in flawless qualifying runs with his Hyper 10sc to take the overall TQ, in round 2 of qualifying Chad with his SCRT-10 came close to beating Jeremy round 1 time but fell short by a few seconds when it was all said and done.  Kevin Smith driving a SCRT-10 rounded out the top 3 in qualifying.  The main was geared up to be another great race between Jeremy and Chad, however on the very first lap of the main event Jeremy made a mistake and Chad tried to make an early pass but was off line over a jump which cause him to fall back as well.  Jeremy was able to hold his lead over Chad by 5-8 seconds, Chad was having to fend off Kevin Smith for most of the main, so this allowed Jeremy to cruise to an easy win and tie Chad in the overall points standings.  Chad Bradley finished in second and Kevin Smith third, making it an OFNA 1-2-3 finish once again in the 4wd Short Course Class!  Round 3 will be held in a couple weeks at Hot Rod Hobbies in Santa Clarita CA., so we'll be sure to see another close race between Jeremy Kortz and Chad Bradley (which is both driver's home track).

SCRT10 takes The Rebel Open, White House Hobbies - 4/18/10

Reported by DJ - White House Hobbies hosted "The Rebel Open" & had a class called 4x4 SCT , driver Mark Thomas driving the Jammin SCRT-10 drove his car to a victory over the other non-OFNA rides in stellar fashion starting from the 3rd position in the 10 min. A-main.  At the start of the race was pile-up of cars into the first turn & Mark was one of them but after getting cleared away & now rolling from the next to last position in the race he got on it by blistering past by most of the field by the second lap in P-2 stalking the leader waiting to make his move into the uphill sweeper, with the other 4x4 in his cross-hairs he made his on the inside for the lead as the leader pushed wide & could not hold the line.  By the time the race was over Mark had a 26 sec. lead on P-2 & lapped the rest of the field, Mark said that his Jammin ride accelerates and turns better than the other trucks in the race powered by the Novak GTB and the HV 4.5 a combination that puts him in the winner's circle, good job Mark.

Chad takes the win at Hot Rods - 4/13/10
Reported by Chad Bradley - 4/13/10 - Hot Rod Hobbies: Chad Bradley TQ's and wins the Tuesday night nationals at Hot Rod Hobbies in the 1/8 Buggy Class! The competition is getting tougher and tougher every week with Steven Bess, DJ Silva, Matt Chambers and Travis Erkeneff all driving really fast.  Chad TQ,ed both rounds of qualifying with his Jammin X2 Buggy and Steven Bess qualifying second.  Bess usually doesn't have to pit in the 10min main events and since he's been on pace this is having Chad to make some adjustments with his driving to be able to do the main event run without a pit as well.  Chad lead every lap of the main, Bess was able to stay within 5-10 seconds of the leader.  Chad put in a flawless 10min run (every lap was within 1/2 second) and not pit as well to take home another Hot Rod Tuesday Night win! Chad says his Jammin X2 has been working amazing all year, its been real easy to drive and fast!

Georgia Championship Series-round 2

Reported by DJ Sandate - On the East Coast side of racing the OFNA cars are proving to be the serious competitor in Open SCT as the Jammin SCRT-10 took 1st by Gene Snipes, a Hyper 10sc takes 2nd by Joseph Sessum and the 3rd place was wrapped up by another SCRT-10 driven by Zack Rudolph, you can see OFNA is the choice of brand to race in the Open SCT class, the series lead is being held by Mr. Gene Snipes going into the 3rd round and will continue to push for the top spot and the overall championship win, but there's still a long way to go, so keep up the pace Gene your doing a great job.

Short Course Pro4 racing at West Coast Raceway - 4/10/10

Reported by DJ Sandate - Short Course racing took place at another great indoor facility West Coast Raceway, with a new layout & good traction the Pro4 class would have a great battle in quals & in the main.  The battle between the two OFNA cars would see some good door to door action, Jon Anderson driving the Jammin SCRT-10 and Dj in the Hyper10sc would make the push for top qualifier as their pace keep them 1&2 as Jon would keep the TQ spot & Dj holding down the P-2 spot for the main.  As traction rolling was the key towards keeping the car on all fours & the bite on the track was getting high, the two top spots would need to work together to get away from the rest of the field, but at the start of the race into the first turn would be a nice front and rear tap for the first three spots as Jesse R. would go from third to first into the next three turns before Jon would take the lead only to give it up to Dj from a bobble.  Jon would charge hard to make the distance up on Dj but only to get close & then bobble again from the tacky track, the Hyper car would continue to pull away from everyone for the win with Jon taking the 2nd spot & Jesse R grabbing the 3rd spot.

Nelson gave it all, but came up short, sorry!
Took my OFNA Hyper 9 Pro 2.0 down the coast to Spring Sting at Badlands RC Supercross track in the vacation capital of SC, Myrtle Beach.  With spring break in full swing, the beach was packed with vacationers.  The Badlands crew had a great layout and the weather was great, sunny and 70 degrees.  The race had 75 entries from SC, NC, GA and some drivers from Ohio.  The Pro buggy class had the largest turnout with a lot of companies drivers present: Associated Brandon Melton and Chris Pace, Losi’s local favorite Travis Dupree, Kevin Bullock from Xray and, of course,Yall with OFNA/HoBao.  In Fridays practice the track was already grooving up and tire choice and wear became a concern.  Some drivers liked small pin tires, Proline’s Holeshots, Jconcept’s Sevens and AKA’s Gridirons but other drivers found speed and life out of larger pin tires like, Proline’s Bowties, Jconcept’s Crossbows and AKA’s I-Beams.  With the  A main being 30 minutes, tire choice could be critical.  On Saturday we ran three qualifiers using Qual points best 2 out of 3 rounds and then the Mains.  TQ in Pro Buggy went to local favorite Travis Dupree with Losi.  I qualified 12th with 10 cars in the A main.  I found myself sitting second on the grid for the B main.  The B Main was 15 min. and I ran in the top 3 the whole race with a great battle between Barry Petite from Mugen and myself, Barry chose small pin tires and I went with bigger pin tires and on the next to the last lap Barry found himself on “bald tires” and making mistakes while I still had tread left, I finished second and bumped into the A main.  At the start of the A main somebody’s car flamed at the front of the grid and that made a huge pile up, but I got through and ran as high up as 3rd but got into trouble with lap traffic and fell back a couple of spots and ran there most of the race.  I had a great battle with Tim Smith, who runs the Phil Hurd Raceway track in Savannah GA, on the last lap coming up short on the last rhythm section costing me a position by twelve one hundredths of a second.  I finished seventh after it was all said and done.  I really enjoyed the race and would like to thank all the people that make it possible: OFNA & HoBao
GLOVER & PETERSON TAKE NITRO WINS AT OVAL THUNDER

Reported by DJ Sandate - LA Thunder Hobbies & Raceways held its third race of the season on the new 231’ smooth, banked, red clay oval. The red clay grooved up quickly and allowed the foam tires to have great traction, which made for some really quick lap times.  There were drivers from three states represented in the five classes of racing.

1/8 Nitro Late model class saw Pete Peterson take first place with his OFNA GTPII Dirt oval chassis. 1/8th Nitro Sprint class was won by Donnie Glover with an OFNA Hyper Sprint.

Hyper 10sc wins at OCRC - 4/9/10

Reported by DJ Sandate - 4/9/10 - OCRC: Another win for Hyper 10sc and Craig (Cuda) Hammond in the Pro 4WD at OCRC.   In hunting fashion as he worked his way from the 3rd position in the main.  He was into a pace that shook the leader Nick Vivas in the Jammin SCRT-10, as the pace was too much for the P-1 guy that caused him to have a crash with laps winding down that gave up the lead to Cuda.  Barney/Hulk stunned himself to capture the win, hearing him saying in the Barney voice " I love SC 4wd, and I love you Nick."
