Chad took the win and tq on the brand new layout, Crash finished 2nd, Jimmy Webster 3rd all driving the Jammin SCRT-10s Video Link - Chad's 4x4 SCRT Main Win!
OFNA Dominates 4x4 Short Course Nationals - 7/12/10
![]() Reported by OFNAdave - The OFNA 4x4 Short Course Team, which includes Hyper and Jammin pilots, made the trip to the east coast for the RC Madness Short Course Nationals in Enfield, CT. I have not gotten a report on the track conditions, but I need to clarify what we entered. OFNA only makes 4x4 Short Course Product, no 2wd found here! So, for this event, we raced in 1:10 4x4 SC Electric with 550 cans brushless systems, since 540 can systems burn-up and a waste of time. But the 4x4 SC Nitro class included both 1:10 and 1:8th size vehicles and in the case of Associated this means a RC8sc. This didn't seem fair but that is what the Madness Group wanted, anyway we got the win!. As for the actual racing event brief, I haven't got the team back and will try to update this week! Thank You to all the OFNA drivers and to there hard work in getting the results.
Randy & Jason Kung take the wins at WCRC - 7/12/10
![]() Reported by Randy Kung - 7/12/10, 7 Heats, West Coast R/C Raceway- Danny S. Birthday – One Year Anniversary: With the $10 race entries at West Coast, Randy raced the 4WD Short Course class. As qualifying began for Randy, he made a couple rollovers and finished in a 14/5:19 pace. He then finished with a 14/5:15 pace in the second round. Unfortunately, Randy wasn’t able to set the TQ. As the main began, Randy took the lead with second place right behind him. With more bobbles in the main, second place was able to get around Randy with about 3 minutes left. The leader then had a bobble at the same spot Randy had which allowed Randy to inherit the lead. Randy won with the pace at a 14/5:13 Jason raced the 1-8 buggy class and took the early TQ in round 1 with a 15/5:07. He had also won round 2 of qualifying with a 15/5:03. The mains began with Jason taking the early lead in the 7 minute A-Main. Jason spins out in the washboard section which allows second place to take over the lead. Jason begins pushing the car and takes over the top spot with two minutes to go. He begins to pull away and finishes first in a 21 lap run.
Randy Kung take the wins at WCRC Summer Series - 7/31/10
Reported by Randy Kung - 7/31/10, 15 Heats, West Coast R/C Raceway, Endless Summer Series - The fourth round of the endless summer series began with Rand Kung racing the Expert 4WD Short Course. It was his second time racing on the new layout. For the first round of qualifying, Randy had a traction roll on the sweeper on the last lap which didn’t allow him to take the TQ. However, on the second round of qualifying, Randy took the TQ by 4 seconds over the Round 1 qualifying time. As the mains began, Randy took the early lead battling with newest OFNA member Gaige Herrera. As the long 7 minute A-Main went on, it would be Randy Kung being the only driver to make 19 laps, finishing in a pace of a 19/ 7:16.
Randy wins at West Coast R/C Raceway - 7/10/10
Reported by Randy Kung - 7/10/10, 8 Heats, West Coast R/C Raceway: With summer vacation going on, it has been almost a month since we have raced. We decided to race the usual 4WD Short Course and 1-8 Scale Buggy. Unfortunately, Jason’s motor blew up during practice and wasn’t able to race. Since we haven’t raced for nearly a month, Randy’s confidence during qualifying wasn’t at full. He broke on the first qualifier by landing incorrectly on the big triple. On the second qualifier, he started in the back and wasn’t able to set a new TQ. However, as the mains began, Randy took the early lead with second place right behind. As a near perfect run, Randy beat the track record by running a 14/5:05, 4 seconds ahead of the old record.
Chad/SCRT10 Wins 5th Rd. JBRL - 7/3/10
Reported by DJ - Over the holiday weekend the JBRL series rolled over to Pegasus Hobbies for round #5. With over 185 entries it was sure to be a long day, but with awesome racing and spectacular weather the day would be not so bad. SC Unlimited would see Chad Bradley take the win and Tq to stretch his points lead over Jeremy Kortz. There was no contest for the Jammin driver as he would put a lap on the entire field in the quals using his M3 Proline Holeshot Sc tires. So again the race would be more for second place as the rest of the field would be close in quals only swapping one position in the 2nd qual for one of the drivers, so from Chad on back would be DJ, Kevin Smith, James Grossaint and Will Eikendberry. Racing goes into a good start as Chad was dialed from the sound of the tone with no one to challenge pacing at 21.0 sec. or below, the battle would come as Kevin and Dj would race again from the last round. But Kevin would stretch his 2nd position and Dj was falling back into the clutches of Will. As time was running out Kevin had a crash between a back-marker that caused him to break Dj would jump into the 2nd spot at the end of the race as Will would take the final podium spot. Brian Bourland takes round 2 in the Local Joe Point Series 6/26/10
Qualifying used 3 rounds of rocket style qualifying with the fastest time over 3 rounds seeing top honors. The rounds were tight and qualifying was fierce. In the 3rd round I was able to take TQ in nitro buggy with the only car to reach the eleven lap mark. After the 30 minute main I brought my Hyper 9 2.0 back in the number one spot. This was also my first time out with the Hyper 9E, which saw myself fortunate to Tq the class. But in the main my good luck would run-out as electrical issues forced an early retirement, although the buggies handling was amazing! Good job Brian, now the local Joe's know who the fast guy is driving the Hyper 9's Hyper with OFNA Pilot Tim Dunn takes Two - 7/3/10
Reported by Tim Dunn - The OFNA products Hyper 10sc and Hyper 9e sweep Saturday night racing at West Coast Raceway. After 2 rounds of qualifying I was TQ in both the 4x4 short course and 1/8 buggy classes. Having found a good setup on both vehicles I was confident going into the finals. The 1/8 scale buggy main was first and my Hyper 9e was ready. After a clean start I was able to find my rhythm and pull away for the win! The 4x4 Short Course main was the last race of the night and once again my Hyper 10sc delivered! The truck performed flawless all night and brought home another win. It was entertaining watching the battle for second place as I completed my victory lap!
Hyper 10SC wins at Hemet Raceway on Short Course Friday Nights 6/26/10
Oval and OFNA go together like Pea's & Carrots!
![]() Reported by Robin Nelson - This past weekend I made the trip up through the Blue Ridge Mountains to Outback Raceway in Greenville, Tennessee. This weekends race was the Tennessee Sate Championship race. With a good crowd of racers on hand the owners of the track, The Valentines, treated their racers to a pig barbecue supper. With our bellies full, we prepared to battle for the State Championship. The schedule consisted of 3 rounds of qualifying and main events. Classes ran in the state race were 1/8 Limited Late Model, 1/8 Sprint Car and 1/8 Open Late Model. Temperature was in the high 90’s during the day, so thank goodness this race was run at night with temperature in the 70’s. After three rounds of qualifying the top qualifiers were as follows: 1/8 Limited Late Model, Andy McClellan 49/ 4:00 ; 1/8 Sprint Car, Robin Nelson 46/4:01 ; 1/8 Open Late Model 49/4:04. After the dust had settled in the mains here are the results:
Hyper 10SC wins again with Tim Dunn at West Coast RC 6-20-10
Reported by DJ - With a fresh new layout and 2 full heats of 4x4 short course it was set for a great day of racing. Tim was able to grab TQ in the first round as the Hyper 10SC truck was dialed. He was even able to improve time in the second round keeping the TQ position for the final. In the final Tim got a clean start and worked on making clean consistent laps. One small tangle with traffic tightened things up a little, but in the end the Hyper 10SC crossed the line in 1st! The Nitrohouse.com Super Service Rep said that the Hyper 10SC handled great all day and made my job easier.
Chad Bradley wins JBRL round #4 in Bakersfield
Reported by DJ - Chad Bradley takes the the TQ and win over the weekend at Racer's Haven in Bakersfield Ca. in Short Course Unlimited. With two heats of unlimited SC racing there would be a fight to get into the top spots for the A-main. The battle in the main was for second and third as Bradley checked-out with Novak and Protek powered equipment and had to check-up on second and third from lapping them as DJ(Hyper) and Kevin Smith(Jammin) kept close together as they changed a couple of times in position from slight mistakes and battling through the traffic. But in the last minute DJ took a bad roll for Kevin to pull away and take 2nd in the race and DJ to grab 3rd.Racer's Haven was one of the more interesting tracks on the JBRL series as the track was tar layed and dust-free, but made for some corners a lil drifty and other corners with killer bite for traction rolling. Tires were surely getting tested to the fullest and the ESC's along with motors were sure getting temperature checked on a regular basis, so if you don't have your OFNA temp probe you may need to get one as the summertime time will put a strain on those electrics. Better to be safe than sorry, 10154 is your winning key to racing ;)
Oval is still King out Outback Raceway - 6/12/10
![]() Reported by Robin Nelson - This past weekend was the Nitro Outlaw Series Race held at Outback Raceway in Greeneville, Tennessee. The series is a six race series across the Southeast run by Donnie Victor. 70 of the Southeast's best Dirt Oval racers showed up to battle. The Valentine's, owners of Outback Raceway, did a great job of keeping the track smooth and prepped throughout the weekend, despite temperatures soring in the high 90's with crazy humidity. Schedule for the race was a qualifier and a "Dash for Cash" race Friday night and returning Saturday afternoon to 3 rounds of qualifying and main events. Classes were 1/10 10.5 Electric Late Model, 1/10 Nitro Late Model, 1/8 Limited Late Model and 1/8 Super Late Model. Friday night was a success and we returned Saturday to a morning rain shower, but the track crew had covered the track with tarps and when the rain stopped they uncovered the track, and within an hour the track was ready to go. Qualify was intense with a lot of fast cars present, Johnny Broyles TQ'd the 1/8 Limited Late Model and Andy McCelellan TQ'd the 1/8 Super Late Model with OFNA Team Driver Robin Nelson in 2nd. Robin Nelson would like to thank the Valentine's and Donnie Victor for running a great race and keeping a consistent track, despite the super hot conditions!
