Reported by Miguel Perez - It was time to head out to Thunder Alley Raceway in Beaumont, Ca. for round 1 of the 2013 JBRL series.I arrived early anticipating a huge turnout as this is one of the premier racing series in the country.Over 230 racers showed up & I new it was going to be a long day. The schedule consisted of 2 qualifiers & a main for each class.I signed up for 40+ nitro buggy & E-Buggy. I found out that there were 3 heats of 40+ and the same for E-buggy so I knew that the competition was going to be tough. My 1st qualifier was in 40+ nitro buggy. The car was dialed & I was able to squeeze out a 4th place finish. I wish I could say the same about E-buggy as I struggled all day to find my rhythm.
The qualifiers were all done & mains were up. I qualified a solid 4th in the 40+ A-main & 2nd in the E-buggy C-main.I knew if I could finish 2nd in the C-main I could bump to the B-main & then maybe the A.The C-main was up and I put a different set-up on the car and it seemed a little better but I was still fighting it. I finished 1st & was able to bump up.I turn marshaled the next race and ran into the pits to charge batteries and get the car ready as the B-main was coming
quick. The B-main came quick & the tone sounded. I got a great jump & by the 2nd turn I was in 2nd place but could not hold it as I lost composure & made a few mistakes. I ended in 5th place. I went back to the pits a little disappointed but feeling OK with my finish. The 40+ A-main was up & I was starting in a good position to redeem my disappointing finish in E-buggy. The tone sounded & by the 1st turn I was in 2nd place. My X3 Sabre was feeling amazing & I liked my chances for a podium finish. By the middle of the race I was comfortably in 2nd place. Towards the end of the race I started to bobble a little & let 3rd place get a little to close for comfort so I composed myself & was able to finish in 2nd place in one long day of racing. JBRL is great race program, it leads to great races and good finishes & on this day I got the chance to get a picture taken.
Thunder by the Water at Lake Havasu Az. - 3/31-13 by DJ
Reported by Dj Sandate - My weekend to Lake Havasu for some racing by the water going to be great and that's what it was. Lake Havasu RC hosted their Thunder By the Water Race which was a two day event which had a practice run race and three qualifiers on Sat. and two rounds of Main races for Sun. which made for a spectacular day of racing and good fun with new and old friends. It was such a good atmosphere with lots of spectators watching us duke it out on the hard-packed and fast layout track with a huge quad section for OOOhs and AHHHs from people watching on the bleachers. I run two classes like usual, the Electric Buggy 1/8th class and Pro buggy. I managed to finish in good spirits with good handling cars after figuring out a couple of things that I had missed during the quals that had me baffled for most of the day thinking why my cars had so much rear grip but I finnaly found out why after the 1st rounds of mains that got my buggies back in the game to finish good to take home some hard earned hardware. A 3rd for electric nad a 4th for Nitro, but these plaques felt like I won more than just good finished as the weekend was so relaxing and calm even in the roar of nitro. I'm ready to go back and race again with a great group of people. Thank you Pro-Line, Sidewinder Fuels, Savox and OFNA for such great products, this racing is always fun when you have solid products.
Chad wins 2 with his TS2sc & TS4sc Pro 2/4wd - 3/17/13 by davegm
Reported by Chad Bradley - Sunday I headed out a few minutes from where I live down to SCVRC (indoor track in Santa Clarita Ca.) with my Ofna TS2 pro and TS4 pro. SCVRC's crew put in a brand new layout the week before Sunday's race, it was fun, flowing and had tons of traction. The tire of choice was the Proline clay rubber and the pins dremeled off to make slicks, let me tell you short course racing is pretty intense using slicks! Got to the track about an hour or two before the racing started and was able to get in a battery with both trucks, setups felt good, not 100% because its the setups I use at Hot Rod's which is an out door track down the road. Exp 4wd qualifying didnt go as planned, in round 1, I forgot to put my charged battery in my truck was only able to do 3/4 of the race before the pack I used in practice died. Round 2, I started in the back of the pack and just didnt get a clean run in, however managed to qualify 3rd overall. After qualifying was done it was C-Mack taking the TQ, track owner Matt D 2nd and myself 3rd. Round 1 of 2wd Short qualifying went well till I made a few mistakes toward the final few laps and lost the lead to local fast guy Todd Tice and top qualifier Shane Falsey.
Both 4wd and 2wd SC mains went better than qualifying did, not easy however. For the 4wd SC main I started 3rd on the grid and was able to get up into 2nd position early on the first lap. After everyone settled in, myself and C-Mack started racing for the top spot. Since there was so much traction in the mains, it was difficult to put in a clean pass on C-Mack. Toward the half way point in the main the leader traction rolled at the end of the back strait and I was able to finally get into the lead and take the win with the TS4 pro! Got to a great start in the 2wd SC main, did a little zig zag in the first couple corners to get around Todd and Shane. The tripple jump in the center of the track played havoc all day in the 2wd SC class, the jump is big (not hard to clear) however its just out of a corner so getting the 2wd trucks to jump flat is difficult. After a few minutes into the race, I got the tripple jump down by going wide before to gain speed before hitting the face of the jump. Early on myself and Dakota Mclaughlin swapped leads a few times, its great seeing these guys going faster. Once I settled into the lead, I just wanted to run clean all the way to end. I was able to take the win with the TS2sc pro, Todd in second with the Durango and Shane Falsey running the AE.

A win for Mario Netto driving his X3 Sabre - 3/9/13 by DJ
Reported by Mario Netto - After a nice little break from racing since Nitro Challenge and a rained out Grass Roots race, DJ and I decided to go to Revelation Raceway for some friendly club racing. The turn out was good, the track is a fresh new layout and the weather was great. As soon as I drove my first few practice laps, I knew my buggy was good. I qualified 3rd and didn't change a thing on my car except for tires for the main, I switched over from my VP-Pro Turbo Trax to my Strikers which were dialed. I got a rough start, tangling up with the pack, but was able to make my way through the traffic within the first few laps. I was actually racing with a new motor and still breaking it in so I leaned out my Alpha Dragon a little more for a bit more power and the car felt even better, but I still wasn't able to cleanly clear the backside step up and it was costing me time. My X3 was just so good through the corners that I was able to get the lead and pull away. A few bobbles in the last few laps brought me into second, but I was able to get by on the last lap to take the win. A huge thanks to OFNA and to my trusty pit man and friend DJ for killer pit stops using the fuel gun. That's really the only way to go! Congratulations to Chad Grana for a win in the Amateur class.
A 2013 Dirt Nitro Challenge report - 2/25/2013 by DJ
Reported by DJ Sandate - The 2013 Dirt Nitro Challenge is the race to look forward for the start of the year & I was looking to have some good runs on a very challenging track. The track however was even harder to get around than it looked & the wind, rain, hail, thunder & lightning came the track was going to feel alot different from last years race from a smooth high bite track to a patchy-bumpy high-bite surface. With Wed. practice washed out Thurs. E-buggy runs will be learning the track & trying to get around clean for some decent running's but that wasn't the case, E-buggy was my toughest class & my buggy & I were not working together as I made mistake after mistake around the track, E-bug would only think on how to keep my Nitro classes going in the right direction for Fri. The next day was up/down as my first rounds in 40+/Open were good with 10 lap runs but the next rounds I would roughed up & broken for DNF's, 3rd round was a 50/50 as I would do good in the first half of 40+ in qual but in the 2nd half go slower with mistakes trying to push to stay in the A-main but that didn't work out as I would TQ for B-main on Sun. & would have to race my way in. Open was another disappointing run as I suffered another break. This track was taking victims & I was on that list, so H-main for me in Open. Race day I was ready to move up in the Open & so I did with 2 bumps getting to the F-main but that was it as my tires were worn out & no time for a change as I did the marshaling then back to racing, I finished the F-main in 5th. 40+ would go good as I made it to the A-main & would start last for the show. The Sabre would get some good care by my teammates as they freshened up my buggy as I did my duties. As fresh set of tires & a good look over & finding a bent rear shock shaft was hurting my buggy from B-main & just making it in. When the Main came the buggy was feeling really good with the fixes I was ready to get into the race. But that ended quickly in the race as lap-2 I was up the 5th from all the crashes at the start only to make another mistake,end upside-down & get in a head on crash right off the line-drive jump, that ended my day. I got it repaired but only finished 13th I was a little bummed out but at least I got my picture with The Dirt Girls so I'll take that & look forward to next year.
Jaime Boquiren & TS2sc takes the Hitec Series - 2/2/13 by DJ
Reported by Jaime Boquiren - Jan 19th 2013, with one race left on the Hitec Winter Series held at CVRC in Chula Vista Ca. Jaime Boquiren has already clinched the Pro 2 championship on his OFNA TS2 Pro. Heat 1 went very well, up to the first 4 laps, I was in the third position but was able to take the lead and set the fastest lap of 47.050 sec. being the only driver to score 7 laps. Heat 2, started in the first position and kept the lead throughout the whole race, wind picked up a bit but was no obstacle for the TS2 Pro, I could still make the mid-field triple everyone else was afraid to take in our class. Not only the TS2 was the only car to do 7 laps but broke my own previous fast lap with a 46.821 sec. lap. Main event went very smooth until my sensor cable became detached and threw my timing off, that allowed fellow racer Travis Hughes to pass me on lap 8 of 9. When everything was set and done, I finished 0.9 sec. behind Travis for 2nd place which was more than enough to clinch the Hitec Winter Series Championship. My TS2 Pro proved to be a light yet solid platform capable of winning races in stock form. I want to thank my sponsors OFNA and DIII racing for all the support throughout the series.

Reported by Miguel Perez - It was time to head back out to Chula Vista, Ca to the last race of the Hitec series hosted by CVRC race club. My chance's for taking the overall win in E-Buggy was looking good I just needed to finish on the podium to secure the win. My OFNA X3 Sabre-E has been performing flawlessly coupled with the VP-Pro Super Soft Strikers made it even better. I found out that there was a slight track change so as soon as I got out there I had to get on the track for some practice. The changes that were made to the track actually were better than I anticipated and made my lap times even faster. The car settled in nicely and was feeling really stable on the track.
It was time for racing to get under way and I was up. My 1st qualifier went well and I was able to manage pretty fast lap times and finish in the lead. The 2nd qualifier I had a few bobbles and could not recover so I just tried to keep my composure and finish. The mains were next and I really did not have to change anything on the car. The X3 Sabre-E and VP-Pro Strikers really worked well. I qualified 2nd in the main just behind Mike Lebanko from TLR. The race started and I was right behind the leader battling for the lead for almost half the race. I made one mistake and that's all it took for the leader to get away from me. I was able to squeeze out a 2nd place finish and place 1st overall for the series.
X3 Sabre Wins at Winternational - 2/2/13 by DJ
Reported by Chad Grana - I had to wait an extra week to try out my new OFNA X3 SABRE as the race got rained out last Saturday on the 26th for Revelation Raceway's Winter-nationals but the wait was worth it. There was a good turnout of over 100 racers and a lot of very fast guys on a fast track. My first round of qualifying didn’t go so well as I made mistakes and it kept me from getting in the A-main. The second round of qualifying was much better as I was able to get some clean track that got me in the A-final.The Main would be a long wait but I was ready and my X3 felt pretty good, I got a real clean start as I hugged the inside rail on the first turn to stay out of trouble and was able to move up a few positions after the corner. Me and the other top 5 drivers started to distance ourselves from the rest of the field. I was able to get around Fred Steel for the fourth spot and started closing in on the third spot. Eddie Ayala running second and wadded up the car and broke, that put me into the third spot now closing for the next position. The car was handling amazing as I brought the car in for my first pit stop. Lorenzo Rojas running in the second spot flamed out leaving the pits putting me into the second spot and I quickly passed Steve Harris moving into the top position. I had a half a lap on the field when I started to run into some lap traffic. With the cars handling ability I was able to negotiate around most of the cars with ease. After my second and last pit stop I started to make a few mistakes and got tangled up with a few lap cars bringing my lead down to only eight seconds. I was able to compose myself and start pulling away again and ended up taking the win. With having this car less than a month and this being the first race of the year I couldn’t of asked for anything more. I want to thank OFNA for giving me this opportunity to run for them in the 2013 year.

Reported by Chad Bradley - Sunday afternoon some friends and I cruised down to SCVRC to race on the new layout. The new track is really fun and flowing. One of the classes I entered in was the Expert Modified 2wd Short Course class, driving my Ofna TS2sc Pro. Qualifying went good, the first round of qualifying my truck was a little loose and I felt that I wanted to try some different setups so I changed the rear shock position for the second round. Round 2 went much better, I was able to get the TQ for the class which put me on the pole for the main event. For the main, some locals were saying that slicks had been working really good, so I had a set made up from a JBRL race a year ago (PL suburbs dremeled down). The slicks worked good around most of the track, the only exception was the end of the back strait and the lower right 180 turn at the bottom of drivers stand. In the main I was able to get out to a good start and didn't make too mistakes early on and took home the win.

X3 Sabre-E wins at Lake Havasu R/C - 1/12/13 by DJ
Reported by DJ Sandate - My daughter and I needed to get out somewhere with scenic views & calm waters so what better place to go than to the state-line of Lake Havasu where they have Havasu Rc Raceway, it's just south of the London Bridge so why not do some racing & enjoy the fresh cold air. It is such a nice place to run & for spectators to watch some action as you hear the sounds of boats & birds going South, the track was just recently redone & is made to accommodate multiple classes for racing from 1/10 buggy to 1/8th. The front jumps can go from a double-double for the SC's & 1/10th buggies to a launching quad section for the 1/8th rollers. Like always I bring both of my Sabres to run & both were good, I just needed to feel the track out to get better lap after lap. Both Sabres felt a little different in handling but with tires changes and couple of spring changes to the Nitro they almost had the same feel. My Sabre-E did the first runs for qualifying & did ok I just needed to settle down as for some reason my electric felt more like an on/off switch to throttle so I manged to start 3rd for the main & of course collecting pipes didn't help either in pushing for a better spot in the main. The main however would be a slow start as my buggy in warm-up was still feeling off/on for throttle so when the race started my car just cogged so bad at the tone they everyone just flew past me & finally rolled away so I had some time to makeup. The leader had a sizable lead so I thought the most I can get up to would be 2nd but glad for me that drivers all around me were amped up & were just making mistakes & giving me reason to get past them & fall into 2nd. 2 minutes were left & I thought the same thing I'll finish 2nd with the leader with a half lap lead, but all of a sudden he dumped his buggy in a bad place & it took a lot of time for him & me to catch up to race him. Another mistake by the leader as I raced close to him & I was by for the lead, he tried to make it back to me but the quad got him as he came up short & I kept the lead and the win. The Nitro Sabre was feeling good for the Main but in warm-up the quad I think got me as I flat landed hard & in the next turn the engine just made a horrible noise & stopped so no racing the main for me as the crankshaft broke in my Jammin engine, I was feeling good about the race & WHAM!! done for the day. But in all it was a spectacular weekend with friends & family. Thank you Tom & Brian for letting us shack with guys at your cool pad & seeing my cousins I haven't seen in ages. I know that we will be heading out there more often to enjoy some more racing. And we as a company are looking russian reality

Bradley - Hot Rod Hobbies held its first club race on the all new off road track Friday night (this was the actual off road track back in the 90's) . The first club race was a great success with 101 entries entered in, despite the blistering cold weather. I entered in the Pro 2 SC class (modified short course), with OFNA's TS2sc Pro 2wd short course truck. The new track (built by Levi and Rob Jackson from Thunder Alley Raceway) was very fun and flowing, considering its a brand new track with all new dirt, traction was good in practice and qualifying. The cold weather played a role on traction for the main, but how well the TS2sc handles, combined with the ultra soft Proline M4 rubber, traction was not a huge issue in the main. I was able get the top qualifying time in the Pro2 class in both rounds of qualifying with Lyle Spangler (SC10) and DJ Silva (Kyosho) setting the next fastest times. I got to start on the pole for the 5 minute main, the first lap was ok (not perfect). Lyle and myself got onto the front strait ending the first lap and he must have lost traction and from then on out I was not challenged for lead the rest of the way. After getting some space between myself and second position, I just made sure to limit my mistakes, keep the truck strait and avoid traffic. I have been very pleased at how well my Novak and Protek powered Ofna TS2sc Pro has been performing since getting it going, having a lot of fun driving it.

Reported by Chad Bradley - This was the first time that I got to do some racing at Santa Clarita Valley R/C Indoor Raceway (previously know as One-Eleven Raceway). The amount of entries was very good for SCVRC's Sunday club race with 9 full heats of electric off road classes. I entered in the Expert 2wd Short Course class, driving Ofna's new TS2sc Pro Roller. This was also the first time I got to run the TS2 indoors, with a setup that I have been using at Hot Rod Hobbies, I am happy to say that the truck worked very well without much indoor testing. Tires were the only thing I changed from Hot Rod's to SCVRC I prefer PL M3 Holeshot front, M4 Holeshots rear for H.R.H. and PL MC Suburbs front and rear for SCVRC. The race program is your standard club format for most tracks, 2 rounds of qualifying (ifmar starts) and a single 8 minute main event. I was able to get the TQ in round 1 and was able to better my overall time in round 2, local fast guy Jake Mayo was very close behind in time so I had to be careful to limit my mistakes in qualifying and the main. I got to start on the pole for the main, I got a good start with Jake just behind, unfortunately for him he got caught up with a back marker in the beginning minutes of the main after that I just made sure I took good lines and tried to run a flawless race. I was able to get the win with the TS2sc, Jake Mayo running the SC10 finished 2nd and Todd running the DEsc 3rd. The truck has been real good, I am still learning the setup on it but I am happy to say its been very good every time I get the chance to run it. Next up Jan 4 2013 Hot Rods all new electric off road track.

Miguel and X3 Sabre Electric grab the #2 spot at the Hitec Point Series - 12/29/12 by DJ
Reported by Miguel Perez - Headed out to Chula Vista RC Club on Saturday(12-29-13) who was hosting the Hitec Series Race. The track a fast pace track with lots of speed stretches and reach for it jumps is big and full of fun, a clay based track that is well maintained provides an good amount grip.It was round 2 and I signed up for the 1/8 E-Buggy class. I went over my X3 Sabre E from top to bottom so I was hoping to have a good showing at this race. Well the race got under way with our 1st qualifier. The car felt good but was a little too aggressive with steering and had a little over-steer but I still managed to finish 2nd. I went back to the pits and checked the ride height, Toe and camber. I lowered the car a little to 27mm front and 28mm rear. Toe was set to 1 degree out and camber set to -1 front -2 rear. I went out for the 2nd qualifier and the car was much better and easier to drive. I managed another 2nd place finish which guaranteed me 2nd position in the main.
Well it was time for the mains and I was feeling confident with my chances to finish on the podium. The race got off to a good start I was right behind the leader Losi Driver Robert Wickham. I ended up making a few mistakes letting the leader get a few seconds ahead of me but I was sitting very comfortably in 2nd place and a good stretch from 3rd. Our lap times were about the same throughout the rest of the race so I could not make up the difference and ended up in 2nd place. All in all I was very happy with my X3 Sabre E.
The car really performs well and is very easy to drive. Next race will be round 3 for the Hitec Point Race in two weeks and I will be there again to duke it out again with my Sabres.

Reported by Chad Bradley - Home Town Series Round 1, Back on October 28 the Home Town Series held its first race of the four race series at Hot Rod Hobbies. This was one also one of the first few times I got to drive Ofna's new TS4sc 4wd short course truck. I set the truck up exactly like factory setup said, I played with ride hight and shock oil for the hot conditions that day (finding that with the option big bores, springs and pistons that 45wt front and 35wt rear worked good). The track was dry and had plenty of traction, my TS4 truck was very easy to drive and extremely stable for the day, with Proline MX Suburbs. The truck can be easily under weight, so I ran the option brass weight behind the batter (it improved the handling as well on the wet tracks). I was able to set the TQ in both rounds of qualifying with Mike Allen and Garret Buchey rounding out the top three. The truck was handling very good, I got into the lead early on and went pretty much unchallenged all the way through to the win. Mike and Garrett finished strong and placed in the same order as they did in qualifying. Cant wait to do some racing with the Ofna TS4sc!

OFNA TS2 win at the 14th Annual Toy 4 Tots Race at Cal Raceway by DJ
Reported by DJ Sandate - The end of the year is coming soon and all the TFT races have been the ones to go to in helping kids in need of happy cheer. My teammate Mario got me going with him to the 14th Annual TFT Race being held at Cal Raceway in Orange Ca. Being that there was a Gearbox box class which had 4wd and 2wd SC trucks and I was having such a good time running the new OFNA TS2sc on Sat. at OCRC, I wanted to run some more so why not put it on an On-Road track with some jumps and high bite cornering and see what it can do. To my surprise the TS2 drove really good and had some good corner handling on the on-road track, a lot of two tire up and saving it action as traction was really high in the mains. On road guys were also getting some traction roll action but in Gearbox it was keeping all four wheels down and making it over the ever-moving plastic splitter jumps. It was fun and funny when you didn't get it right off the jump and do a cork-screw off of a jump down the straight it seemed like we went faster on the straight when were on our lids but in all just plain fun. After the mayhem of qualifying 2nd thinking we were going to line up 2x2 that wasn't the case as it was all lined up and shooting for the straight shot to the jump, just got waded up right at the start and managed to save it getting to the jump and breaking through in mid pack and I managed to pass clean as the TS2 corned well and got to 1st place when he drove deep into a corner and traction rolled into a corner giving it to me and I kept pulling away as I kept it on all 4 wheels and dodging the traffic and traction rolling SC's. I took home the trophy and some good laughs, thanks Mario for having go to the race with you and thanks to Charlie Barnes for hosting his TFT I had a cupcake overload.
