Kortz and Hyper 9 wins at Hot Rod Hobbies - 8/20/11 by davegm
 Reported by Jeremy Kortz - Hot Rod Hobbies: The first round of qualifying 1st and TQed. But in the second round Chad and I battled it out until I made a mistake over the quad section of the new track. Chad went on to take the TQ with a time of 15laps at a 15-5.21.006 and I finished w a 14 laps at a 14-5.05.002, and Steven Best from Car Action was 3rd. So, in the 15min main I bumped Chad in the first turn when he got a little wide but I let him back bye the regain the lead, but after the triple he made a mistake which gave me the lead. I lead up to the 5min mark until I hit lap traffic and I crashed and gave the lead to Best and Bradley in second, a couple of laps later Bradley flames of and I was in second, be hide Best!!! After pit stops I took the lead and went on to win by about 15sec.
Kortz and Hyper wins at Roadrunners - 8/19/11 by davegm

Kortz - 8-19-11 Ventura Roadrunner raceway: It was the first time for me to race there in months!! I was cool to see about 80 entry's. You can only race one class so I ran 1/8 gas buggy! There was only one heat of gas, and in the first round of qualifying I set the TQ mark at 14 lap at a 5min and 18sec! Second place best time was 13 laps at 5:06. The start of the main I started last to work on my passing, and by the second lap I took over the lead and never looked back. By the end of the 5min race I lapped the field to take win!Also this was the first time my 4yrs son DANE raced SC trk beginner class and out of 20 trks he qualified 18th not bad for his first ever race!!! He couldn't stay to race his main because of his bed time!! LOL It was really cool to see all the people come up and check out his trk, and wanted to know what kind of trk was that, because he hit everything and it didn't brake!!!
Hyper 10sc takes One Two Three! - 8/17/11 by davegm
 Reported by Randy Kung - West Coast R/C Raceway Club Racing - Today, Jason and Randy Kung decided to race their Hyper 10’s to prepare for the event happening this weekend. Today was a little different because the qualifiers and main events were both 6 minutes long. In the first qualifier, during the warm up lap, Randy took the triple-single line wrong and under jumped it landing on his front right arm breaking his arm. Jason decided to take the same line and the same thing happened. They both did not race the first qualifier. In the second round of qualifying Jason started in the first spot and Randy in the second. Jason was able to get a good start and took the win in the qualifier with a pace 5 seconds faster than the first round TQ pace. Randy was one second behind the first round TQ pace. As the main events began, Jason started from the number one spot, Jeremy Kortz in the second spot, and Randy in the third. In the first two minutes, there were many battles which included 3 Hyper 10’s, Losi’s, Durango’s, and the Nexx 10SC. Many battles were on and close during the 6 minute A-Main. In the last two minutes, Jason made a bobble which allowed Randy to take the lead. Than right after, Randy made a bobble which allowed Jason to take the lead right back. However, Jason took the double-double line in the center quad section and Randy took the triple-single lines. Randy took the lead, but competition in the top three were still close. However, time ran out and Randy finished in a pace of 17/5:05.3 while Jason finished in a 17/5:05.6 and Jeremy finishing in a 17/5:06.0. Between the top three drivers, each driver was separated by less than 0.4 seconds! It was a exciting race to watch and congratulations to the HoBao Hyper team racers for finishing in the top 3!

In the main event Randy Kung got out front and I crashed on the first lap and by the end of the main I was 3rd rite be hide the Kungs!! 1st to Randy Kung 2nd was Randy Kungand me 3rd! I was so happy for the Kungs beating me, it shows how much better their becoming!! 1/8 E-Buggy I TQed by 10sec and in the 5min main I lead every lap and almost lapped the field.

Reported by Randy Kung - West Coast R/C Raceway Club Racing - It was a new layout at West Coast R/C raceway when Randy Kung decided to run his Hyper 10 in the 4wd division. We arrived not so long before racing so we didn’t have much practice time. In the first round of qualifying, Randy started second to last and was unable to get around some traffic. The TQ pace was a 14/5:15 set by OFNA driver, Gaige Herrera. In the second round of qualifying, he started second so he was able to take the early lead and finish with a new TQ pace of a 14/5:11. In the main events, Randy was able to hold onto the lead the whole way and finished in a pace of 14/5:13!
___________________________________________________  Reported by Jason Kung - West Coast R/C Raceway: Jason Kung decided to race his Hyper Star in the 1-8th scale division. He has been testing a new Ready-To-Run motor and speed control. So he decided to race with that system to test it out. He also decided to run a Ready-To-Run servo along with that system. In the first round of qualifying, Jason was able to set the early TQ. Going into the second round, Jason took the win again and would begin in the number one spot for the mains. As the mains began, Jason never lost the lead and won the race earning the TQ and the win! The system and servo ran well the whole night and is a good set up for newcomers.
Jubal "AGAIN!!!! with a win" at JCP Raceway - 7/30/11 by DJ
 Reported by Jubal Dike - $$$$$---Cash Race under the lights---$$$$$ - After a few weeks off it was back to the track for a chance to win some cold hard cash!!!! 73 entries came out to enjoy the 2 new layouts and to battle for the $$$. In Pro Ebuggy, my first two qualifiers left me sitting 3rd and a little off pace. After some adjustments I bettered my time by more than 20 secs which still left me Q3 but back up to speed with TQ Brian Seitz (Mugen ECO), Q2 Brian Bourland (Hyper 9e) and Q4 was Dan Rennekamp (Nexx8). At the tone to start the main, I found myself upside down in the third corner and watched the entire field drive by. Not a good start to say the least but 10 minutes is a long time so I just got back going and settled into my pace. Not but just a few laps in I was really clicking off some super fast laps and had quickly reeled in the leader, Bourland, and took over the top spot. I built a comfortable lead and was able to close out the deal with my fellow OFNA teammate Brian Bourland in second. This win felt pretty good considering I was a full lap off pace in the beginning of the day and was able to make the right car and driver adjustments to pull this off.

 Reported by Brian Bourland - This weekend I raced out at JCP Raceway for the "$$$$$$$---Cash Race under the lights---$$$$$$$" I ran 3 classes this weekend 4x4, nitro & ebuggy. I won sc from 5th position on the grid after coming to grips with the track. The 4x4 sc class was the biggest class of the night. On my HyperStar I qualified 2nd and with the help of a 10 min strategy I pulled of another Win. Then in E-buggy I set early TQ then in round 2 almost reset TQ but track gremlins denied the opportunity late in the charge. I qualified 2nd and finished 2nd. I ran the Hyperstar PBS.Here is a story of the event: Saturday July 30 Jcp Raceway hosted the $$$$---Cash Race under the lights---$$$$. The newly rebuilt tracks offered great racing on both sides. And the 2 tracks provided a good mix of both 1/10 electric and 1/8 racers at the same facility. In Pro4 I searched early for the right setup and after starting 5th with my Nexx10 SC along with the right tire choice my 4x4 went to the front and brought home the payday. In Nitro buggy I missed pole by 2 sec and started p2. In the main my HyperStar was dialed and a 10 min stopper insured the Win! Next up was the Hyper9E and after starting 2nd and leading the way for the first half, Ofna teammate Jubal Dike took over and showed the way to the end. For an Ofna 1-2 in the Ebuggy class.
Chad wins again with his Nexx10sc 4x4 - 7/19/11 by davegm
 Reported by Chad Bradley - Saturday July 16th Hot Rod Raceway Pro 4wd SC - Hot Rod Hobbies Tuesday Night Nationals with 90 entries Tuesday night. In the Pro 4 Short Course Truck Class Chad Bradley with the new Nexx 10SC TQed round 2 of qualifying setting a time that beat out Stephen Bess's round 1 time, Bess ended up qualifying in the second spot. In the main event Chad pulled to an early lead and never looked back, Chad lead every lap of the main event to take the convincing win in the Pro 4 Short Course Class. Chad said the truck has been very fast and easy to drive, Bess 2nd and Suarez rounded out the top 3!
Sweep Tires/Radiopost Race#2 win for Gaige Herrera with Hyper9 - 7/23/11 by DJ
 Reported by Gaige Herrera - Second round of the Radio Post/ Sweep points series at Revelation Raceway. There was a total of 11 heats and I signed up for the Amateur/ Intermediate class with my Hobao Hyper 9 Nitro. The first qualifier I had some radio problems and my steering was glitching like crazy all through out the 5 minutes. After getting the glitching problems solved it was time for the second qualifier and it was a really good run and ended up winning my heat and qualified second overall, seconds behind the TQ. Starting second on the grid, I got pushed wide in the first turn so didn't get a good start so by the first lap I was second to last on the first lap, half way through the race I got in a groove and caught up to the battle for the lead and managed to get around them when they tangled up. Was battling with Michael Vincent, team Kyosho driver for several minutes trading the lead between us lap after lap for most of the later part of the race till he crashed and I stretched out to a 27 second lead and ended up lapping all the way up to third and got the win. A good win for me as I had not attended the first race of the series and the winner from the first race did not attend so it puts me right there to challenge for the points lead.

 Reported by Robin Nelson - This past weekend Team OFNA of South Carolina traveled down to Aiken for one of South Carolina's biggest races, The Watermelon Classic. The track is located in Boyd Pond County Park and goes by the name Outlaw Raceway. The track was awesome, red clay, hard packed and very technical layout. Ron and Andy run the track and did a great job all weekend. With temperatures soaring close to 100 degrees and super high humidity, 150 racers piled into the park for the race. Friday was practice day, with qualifying on Saturday. The mains were run on Sunday. I ran in the Pro Buggy and Mod 4x4 Short Course classes and Dustin McCutheon and Scottie Powell ran in the Sportsman Buggy class. On Saturday, I qualified 12th in Pro Buggy, which put me on the pole for the B-Main and I qualified 2nd in Short Course. Dustin qualified 2nd in Sportsman Buggy and Scottie qualified 18th in Sportsman Buggy.On Sunday, I ran the first of the triple A mains for Short Course finishing 3rd and in the second main I finished 2nd. With these finishes in Short Course, my overall was 3rd place in Short Course. Scottie had a rough B-main and finished 8th in his first big race! Dustin started out strong but fell back and finished 4th in Sportsman Buggy. I ran my 15 min. B-Main and won which bumped me to the A-main. At the start of the A-Main I went from 11th to 3rd on the first lap and finished 4th after losing the tread on my tires towards the end of the race. All and all, we had a good time and the Hyper Star's looked good on the track all weekend. All of our cars were equipped with the new Werks B6 Pro engines and ran flawless all weekend. Thanks to all our sponsors that made this possible. I would also like to thank Shane "Pit Bull" Watson for the pit help. Team OFNA S.C. survived the Watermelon 2011. Later... Championship Points Series Round 7, 13
Heats It was the seventh round of the West Coast Championship Points
series held at West Coast R/C Raceway. Randy raced his Hyper 10SC in the
Expert 4WD SC division. Since there weren’t enough expert drivers,
Randy would race with the Sportsman Class. In the first round of
qualifying, Randy started 2nd to last. He was able to get the early TQ
with a 13/5:06. That was the fastest he has ever gone on the layout. In
the second round of qualifying, it was a battle between Randy and
HongNor Driver, Gaige Herrera. Gaige was out front, and led the whole
second round and won, however, he had a bobble near the end which made
him one thousands of a second behind Randy’s TQ! In the main event,
Randy was in the lead until he had a quick rollover before the straight.
He was in second behind Gaige now. Randy was behind by about 3 seconds,
but Gaige had a few bobbles near the end which gave Randy back the
lead. Randy came back and took the win, finishing with a 13/5:04 giving
him 101 points!
Another hot, humid summer club race at JCP RC - 7/9/11 by DJ
 Reported by Jubal Dike - The day started off well with my Tekin RX8/T8 powered, BCE chassis, Hyper 9e setting the TQ mark in the Pro Buggy class after the first round. However, that would be the fastest I went in the 3 quals and ended up starting the main as the 2nd qualifier, 5 seconds off TQ. At the horn I played it safe and decided I was just going to try and keep pace and not push for a pass. This worked out well since only a few turns into the first lap the leader got upside down handing me the top spot. This is where I would stay for the entire main, winning by 28 seconds over second and having laps on the rest of the field.
Randy wins at Revelations Raceway - 6/18/11 by davegm
Reported by Randy Kung - Revelation Raceway O’Donnell Summer Championships - 14 Heats. After a long break of outdoor racing, Randy Kung decided to see how his outdoor skills are with his HoBao Hyper 10 SC. He never got any practice with his short course. Instead, he just threw it down for the first race. He got the early TQ with a 9/5:09 actually doing every jump that 1-8th scale nitro car would do. In the second round of qualifying, Randy had too many bobbles and was unable to improve his TQ pace. In the main events, they changed a regular 5 minutes race to an 8 minute race. Randy knew he had to conserve his battery, so he did double singles instead of triples. After the 8 minute main, Randy lapped all the drivers and went home with the TQ and the win!

For the fifth round of the West Coast Championship Points Series, Randy Kung would race his HoBao Hyper 10SC in the Expert 4WD SC class. However, today didn’t have enough experts to create a class, so the experts ran with the sportsman drivers. In the first round of qualifying, Randy started from the back, which made him have to get around drivers. He was still able to set the early TQ, but not a pace Randy was looking for. In the second round of qualifying, Randy started from the front and had a clean start. As he went around the track, he had a clean run and was able to increase his TQ pace into a 15/5:01. As the main events began, Randy started from the pole and led the whole race finishing in a 15/5:04 giving him another TQ and win!

He did create faster lap times, but it also created more bobbles, so he was unable to set a faster TQ pace. In the mains, Randy started from the number one spot, he took off with the lead and never lost it. He was able to beat his 15/5:03 pace, finishing in a 15/5:00 giving him the TQ and the win.

In the main events, Jason started from the pole and took the win as the only driver to go 16 laps.
HyperStar wins at Revelation Raceway - 7/2/11 by DJ
 Reported by Dustin Bullard - I had a fantastic run at Revelation Raceway on Saturday during our weekly club race. The novice division was stacked with some very good drivers and we all had a great time! We had three - 5 minute qualifiers and a 15 Minute Main. I qualified 3rd overall while searching for the perfect setup for Rev and once we had it dialed in the Hyper Star was on FIRE, I finished the A-Main in 1st place with a 24-15:28 averaging 38.6s/lap! I grabbed the lead out of the gate and managed a commanding lead on the field until the adrenalin kicked in after about 5 laps, I started to get a little too aggressive and spent enough time on my lid to drop back to fourth place. A few laps later I managed to pull myself together and I started to put down my best laps of the day and even managed to put down my best lap ever @ 34.9s. By the end of the race I had pulled myself back into the lead and even managed a lap on the field. The HoBao HyperStar with the JL .21Pro Nitro engine and Hong Nor 2047 pipe was really working together and fast, I'm glad I had some AKA Gridirons on my buggy to "Handle It!!!!"

For the third round of the West Coast championship Points Series, Randy is leading the series so far and he hopes to extend his lead. Randy Kung ran his HoBao Hyper 10SC In the Expert 4WD SC division. In the first round of qualifying, Randy has electronic issues and didn’t start the race. However, in the second round of qualifying, Randy was able to take the TQ with a 15/5:03. He would earn the TQ point ad start in the pole position for the main. As the tone for the race went off, Randy would have a good 2 second lead by the first lap. He had a good lead when the race was about over, but Randy bobbled and the competition came closer. Randy was still able to hold his position and take the TQ and Win for the third round of the West Coast Championship Points Series.

Today, he runs his Hyper 9 wand hopes to extend his lead. In the first round of qualifying, he tried different tires and had issues in some sections. He was unable to get the TQ. In the second round of qualifying, he set the fastest qualifying time he has ever ran with a 16/5:12. As the main event began, Jason would lead from the pole position and take the win as well finishing in a 16/5:13.
Hyper 9's take 1st and 2nd at JCP RC Raceway - 7/3/11 by DJ
The pro buggy class was combined electric with the nitro. First round the track was a little dry and slick. I was first to take the tone and I led from start to finish turning the fastest laps and setting the TQ mark at 13 7:18.8. My fellow OFNA teammate, Brian Bourland was 6 seconds behind in second. Second round there was a little bit more moisture in the "Monster" and I knew the speeds and times were going to show it! I went out and was really pushing but had a few to many mistakes but when I was turning clean laps, they were fast! I ended up second that round and losing TQ by a half of a second to a nitro car with a 13 7:18.5! That didn't sit well with this electric guy! Time for a few little tweaks and game on! Third round the sun was no longer baking down on the monster allowing for a nice tacky track! When the 7 min tone sounded I had set the new TQ by 7 seconds at 13 7:11.8 and dipping into the 30 sec flat range! So the main was set with myself on point and Bourland starting 3rd! At the start of the main there was a lot of position swapping but after a few laps, Bourland and I got hooked up nose to tail with each other and we started checking out with Bourland at the point for a bit then then myself. We were able to really get away from the field. When it was all said and done I took the win with Bourland in second!

Kortz - West Coast Raceway 13 heats I didn't get home until 2am. In Short Course 4x4 truck, I TQed over Gaige Herrera another OFNA driver with the Nexx10sc by 2sec. My time was 13 laps at 5:004.853 and Gaige's 13 laps at 5:06.226. In the 5min main Gaige and i battled the hole main, behind each other trading the lead and I only won by a couple of feet! WoW both trucks are fast!In 1/8e buggy, I TQed over Scott Wolf by 6sec. My time was 14 laps at 5:14.501 and his time was 14 laps at 5:20.794. In the warm up before the main I miss a big jump and broke the front bulkhead and never got a chance to race the main!!
Robin takes to SC4x4 win at Hobby Connection - 6/01/11 by davegm
 Reported by Robin Nelson - The Hobby Connection in Easley, SC hosted the first ever SC Short Course Challenge (SCSCC) on May 27th & 28th. The race had almost 100 entries with drivers from all parts of SC & NC. With numerous classes, including 2 WD Stock SCT, 4 x 4 SCT, 2 WD Limited Mod SCT and 1/8 buggy class, the racing began with Friday practice and one round of qualifying. We ran two qualifiers on Saturday before the 30 minute mains. I ran in the 4 x 4 SCT class and ended the day with a win. 1st place in the A Main made for a successful and fun weekend.
