9/22/09 - Hot Rod Hobbies: Just days before the start of the annual Reedy Truck Race at Hot Rod Hobbies in Santa Clarita CA., the racers got onto a brand new layout.  With this news, there was a huge amount of entries, 130 to be exact!  Jeremy Kortz Hyper 9 and Chad Bradley  Jammin X-2 battled hard the whole night in the Expert Buggy class.  Chad Bradley TQ'ed both rounds of qualifying with his Jammin X2 Buggy, Jeremy Kortz qualified 2nd with his Hyper 9 a few seconds back and Travis Erkinoff in 3rd with his 8 2.0.  With the large turnout the main event was shortened to 6 minutes due to the fact that the nitro cars have to be done by 10pm.  Jeremy and Chad swapped leads a few times during the main, Chad ended up with the win, Jeremy in 2nd and Travis Erkinoff in 3rd.

C & S Indoor Raceway in Cherryville, NC and Thunder Alley R/C Speedway in Wilson, NC were the track sponsors. The rain all over the southeast kept the entries lower than usual, but not one drop of rain fell at Thunder Alley R/C Speedway. Dirt Oval Logo
Robin Nelson and Stan Harrington were tied in points leading into this race. In qualifying Nelson and Harrington ran the same amount of laps with only a one second difference in overall time. Harrington TQ’d and Nelson was second going into the A main. After the two minute warm up, the two cars topped off with fuel and prepared for battle. Harrington was the early leader until a bobble at the half way mark, giving Nelson the lead. Nelson kept the lead and went on to become the East Coast Dirt Oval Champion! OFNA Team pilot Jeffrey Lin wins the Series Championship in RCGT
SongAfter a hard fought race, Jeffrey Lin and his JL-10e sedan won the final and took the points championship and the RCGT series.JL10e Logo
This was the first time Jeffrey has competed in this series and a first for OFNA's new JL-10e RCGT class competitor.  I think this puts to bed all thoughts, that the JL-10e sedan @ $130.00 (street) is a competition racer by beating cars that cost two to three times as much.  Paying more does not make you a winner, just "_______".   Great Work Jeffrey!  HI!

Chad Bradley win the Tuesday Night Nationals - 9/15
9/15/09 - Hot Rod Hobby: On Tuesday night at Hot Rod's in the expert 1/8 buggy class, Jeremy Kortz TQ's both rounds of qualifying setting a real fast time with his Hyper 9 buggy, Chad Bradley was 2 seconds behind in the 2nd position.  The main event was exciting and intense between the top 3 qualifying drivers, Jeremy Kortz with his Hyper 9, Chad Bradley with his Jammin X2 and Travis Eurkinoff with his "8".  Jeremy lead early in the main, however after the first couple minutes, Travis took the lead and lead a good majority of the main.  It became a three way battle the last half of the main between Travis, Jeremy and Chad. In the remaining 3 minutes, a mistake by Travis allowed Chad to take the lead.  Jeremy got tangled with Travis and allowed Chad to cruise to the finish while Travis and Jeremy battled for the 2nd position.  A mistake by Jeremy on the last lap or two gave the 2nd spot to Travis.

Dirt's cleans up at Outback Speedway - 9/6
The  OFNA Dirt Oval team showed up ready to race and made a Labor Day weekend trip up the Blue Ridge Mountains to Greeneville, Tennessee to Outback Speedway, a beautifully prepped red clay oval nestled in the mountains of Tennessee. Owners Paul, Ash and Josh Valentine have a great facility and a large weekly crowd of Oval racers.  The race was a points and trophy race with a large crowd and some of the best oval racers from three states competing. Dirt Oval Logo
Their classes were 1/10 Bomber, 1/8 Buggy, 1/8 Novice Late Model,  1/8 Limited Late Model and 1/8 Super Late Model. I saw a lot of OFNA Dirt Oval cars there!  This race was my first time out on the track with the new Picco .28 Turbo engine.  It provided awesome power and led me to TQ and win the 1/8 Super Late Model class.

After 2 days of competition with over 110 entries, Hyper 9 Pro pilot Jeremy Kortz won the NitroHouse.com Labor Day Challenge at Revelation Raceway with Chad Bradley (TQ) finishing second driving his Jammin CR X2.  Bradley and Kortz both had good starts and battled for the lead during their first two tanks of fuel.  Just before the start of the main event, Kortz had changed to OFNA's yellow foam inserts which proved to be the winning choice as he slowly started to extend his lead and win the race after 40 minutes under a 90 degree sun.  Also in the 1/8 Electric Buggy class Tim Bump took TQ and won the A-main.  Jeremy didn't have time to get his electric prepared, since he wanted to put on a good show using his Nitro Buggy.  Sorry Kortz.. you could have been a two timer!

9/01 - Hot Rod Tuesday Night Nationals: A light turn out at Hot Rods Tuesday night, 85 entries. Chad Bradley took the TQ in both rounds of qualifying and led every lap in the main with his Jammin X2 buggy.  The track very rough, Chad changed his normal setup for the bumpy conditions (lighter springs front & rear and went to a little longer wheel base), he said this helped his X2 buggy in those conditions.  Chad also wrapped up the Tuesday night July-August series with a perfect score!
