 Basic Servo Chart
You will need a 2-channel radio set with two servos, battery holder (some AA batteries) or nicad battery pack, receiver, transmitter and switch (optional), fuel, fuel bottle, and a glow plug igniter .

If you purchase a non ready to run kit you will need a body, header and pipe and a .12-.21 engine in addition to the above equipment. Most .12-.21 size car engine will fit, as long as your car was made to accept that size of engine and the engine is designed for RC cars. (Trying to put a .21 engine into a car that was designed for a .12 will not work, and if you try you do so at your own risk)

A strong steering servo will benefit you in quite a few ways. Typically you should have a steering servo with at least 60 oz. of torque. The added torque will help you maintain a steady line through the corners when the inertia is trying to cause the wheels to straighten. Servo speed is not as important as torque but will really help you transition faster from left turns to right turns.

You will also need a starter box if you opt for a non pullstart engine

A standard servo will generally have about 30-40 oz. of torque and a transit speed of about .22 sec from lock to lock. The servos recommended for different vehicles are listed below.

VEHICLE TYPE  STEERING SERVO  THROTTLE SERVO
1/8 OFFROAD CARS  90 oz of torque or greater and a transit speed of .15 or higher  75 oz of torque or greater and a transit speed of .15 or higher
1/8 ONROAD CARS  80 oz of torque or greater and a transit speed of .15 or higher  50 oz of torque or greater and a transit speed of .15 or higher
1/10 OFFROAD CARS  80 oz of torque or greater and a transit speed of .15 or higher  60 oz of torque or greater and a transit speed of .15 or higher
1/10 ONROAD CARS  75 oz of torque or greater and a transit speed of .15 or higher  50 oz of torque or greater and a transit speed of .15 or higher
